He's big, he's tough and he can score goals.  That's the easiest way to describe YSE alumnus Steve Downie.  The native of Newmarket, Ontario, is one of many Express alumni's to make it to the professional ranks.  In his draft year with the Express in 2002-2003, Steve Downie recorded 18 points in 14 games while splitting his time with the Aurora Tigers of the OPJHL.  That off-season, Downie was selected 16th overall by the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL priority selection. Steve would spend three seasons in Windsor, before making stops in Kitchener and Peterborough.


ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Scored his 1st NHL goal versus the Toronto Maple Leafs on January 5th, 2008
- Made his NHL debut on December 5th, 2007 versus the Minnesota Wild
- U17 World Hockey Championship gold medalist in 2003-2004
- 2005-2006 OHL Champion
- U20 World Junior Championship All-Star in 2005-2006
- World Junior Championship U20 gold medalist in 2005-2006
- 2006-2007 U20 World Junior Championship gold medalist
- Led his Express Bantam team to the All-Ontario AAA Championships in 2002
