- Ryan Murphy
Participated: 7
Much like his teammate Daniel Catenacci, defensemen Ryan Murphy was a highly sought out player during the 2009 OHL priority selection. The native of Aurora, Ontario was selected 3rd overall by the Kitchener Rangers, just two slots behind Catenacci who was selected 1st. Despite being a defenseman, Murphy put up outstanding numbers in his Minor Midget season with the Express during the 2008-2009 season. In 73 games, Ryan totalled 95 points (30G 65A) which was good for 4th in league scoring. In his rookie season with Kitchener, Ryan skated in 62 regular season games and tallied 39 points for 7th in team scoring. In the post-season Ryan chipped in with 17 points in 20 games. In 2011, Ryan was selected 12th overall in the NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes and quickly became one of their top prospects. He went on to play two more seasons with the Rangers, eventually becoming the captain in the 2012-2013 season.
