U16 - 2010 (York-Simcoe Express)

This past weekend our YSE U16 team competed in the OMHA Championship Tournament held in Peterborough.  They completed the round robin 2-1 and secured a spot in the semifinals.  The U16's defeated Niagara 3-1, moving them onto the finals.  In a hard fought match-up versus the Credit River Capitals for the coveted #Redhats, the team unfortunately came up short 4-2 including an empty net goal.

Congratulations to Lukas Butler on making Team Byfield U16AAA OHL Top Prospects Game Roster. 80 of the top players from across Ontario are set to hit the ice on January 13th and 14th.

The YSE U16 team would like to thank everyone for their generous donations to our Pink in the Rink fundraising campaign. Your donation = real change. With all your support at our Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser, t-shirt and bake sales throughout October, we are able to donate approximately $5600.00 to the Southlake Cancer Foundation Center. Wow that's impressive, great job team!

What a blast! The YSE U10 and U16 Mentorship is in full swing. The program involves an exciting partnership between the two teams whereby each U16 player is paired with a U10 player for the season in a mentor role. Both teams will attend each others home games and the U16s will assist and support the U10s at their practices throughout the season.

The U16 players participated in the highly scouted Toronto Titans Prospect Tournament this past weekend that included 48 teams from across Ontario and the USA. The team came out of one of the strongest divisions 4 and 0 allowing only 2 goals against, posting 3 shutouts. In the Sweet 16 round they defeated Eastern Ontario Wild 2-1 advancing to the group of Elite 8.  Unfortunately on Sunday morning, the YSE U16 team fell short 1-3 with an empty net goal against Reps Hockey Club.  Full steam ahead, great start to the season.
