U13 UPDATE - Sunday's tryout is now 90 mins long ($60). It runs from 11:30am - 1:00pm at Magna (no black/white).

Spring Evaluations / Tryouts for 2024-25 Season

*U14 - EMAILS WILL BE SENT OUT BY SUNDAY NIGHT FOR YOUR COLOUR/TIME FOR MONDAY TRYOUT.

York Simcoe Express Hockey Association will be hosting Spring Evaluations / Tryouts for the selection of their 2024-25 season teams on April 20-26, 2024. Schedule is now posted, and all will be hosted at Newmarket Magna Center.
To ensure the Spring Evaluations provide the YSE Coaches with the best possible opportunity to see all attending players we have made a few changes. Not only is this to benefit our Coaches but YSE wants to have all players attending to have a positive experience.
U10 to U14 Age Groups
Numbers in the younger age groups tend to be higher so YSE decided to have two, one-hour sessions at these age groups for the first two days. Manage the number of skaters on the ice to benefit the Coaches / Evaluators and the Player experience.
Schedule reflects this, once registered your Player will be assigned either a “Black” or “White” one hour session which will be emailed back to you closer to the date.
Coaches will assign the player sessions based on final numbers; position played (if applicable) as identified on the registration form. There are no pre-determined allocations for these sessions, they will be assigned as fairly and evenly as possible by all YSE Coaches from all registered players.
A reputable, experienced 3rd party has been hired by YSE to run the first two on-ice sessions allowing Coaches / Evaluators the ability to watch the players.
U10 to U13 Goalie Session
Numbers for this position in the younger age groups tend to be higher so YSE decided to have one, one-and-a-half-hour session exclusively for goalies. This will be held on the afternoon of Saturday April 20th, on the schedule, they do not attend their age group morning skate. Day 2 with the split session’s goalies will then be assigned their “Black” or “White” session.
A reputable, experienced 3rd party has been hired by YSE to run the Goalie session, allowing Coaches / Evaluators the ability to watch the goalies.
U15 & U16 Age Groups
Tryouts for these age groups are more consistent / traditional with numbers, tryout format determined by the YSE Coach for that age group. General Information YSE hires professional
Athletic Therapists to be present for the duration of all evaluation / tryouts for your players safety.
Complete your on-line registration forms accurately and as early as possible with all the information required. You must have your PTS (Permission to Skate) from your home center before you can register.
