Goodrow brings the Stanley Cup home to Aurora
Submitted By Kelly Jones on Sunday, August 22, 2021
Join friends, neighbours and fellow hockey fans as the Stanley Cup comes to Aurora. We’ll be welcoming home Aurora native and NHL Champion Barclay Goodrow of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, August 26. The Left Winger will be in Aurora as he celebrates his team's second Stanley Cup win!

“I am excited to welcome Aurora native and Stanley Cup Champion Barclay Goodrow to the Town of Aurora. Let’s all get together and celebrate the astounding achievements of the Tampa Bay Lightning team and celebrate our NHL Champion as well. Participants will get a rare opportunity to take a photo with the Stanley Cup at this celebratory event and hear more about Barclay,” says Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas.

The Stanley Cup is on a tour across North America and Europe as it spends a full day with every player and coach on the Tampa Bay Lightning team.

The Town of Aurora is hosting a free community celebration with Goodrow on Thursday, August 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Machell Park. The event will include hockey-themed family activities and entertainment. The Stanley Cup will be onsite with Goodrow from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place as attendees will be required to wear masks to be screened upon entry. There is also a maximum capacity for the park and once that has been reached, participants must wait to enter until attendees leave. There are no in and out privileges.

Special thanks to our event partners York-Simcoe Express, Aurora Sports Hall of Fame, Central York Girls Hockey Association, Aurora Tigers Minor Hockey Association and Aurora Tigers, Junior A Hockey Club.
