YSE Return to Hockey - March Update
On behalf of the York Simcoe Express Board of Directors and coaches, we are pleased to provide the following update with details for the remainder of the association’s Return to Hockey programming which will continue for the next five weeks, concluding on Friday, April 30.

As everyone is aware, York Region remains in the Red (control) zone requiring us to operate with 10 players and two coaches on the ice. YSE is maintaining close communication with both local public health and the OMHA to be ready for changes to programming should York Region move to the Orange (restrict) zone.

The same health and safety protocols, including advance screening and spectators not permitted in the arena, will be in place until local public health regulations permit changes.

We are making every effort to keep the team schedules consistent with the current schedule but do want to forewarn our teams of the likelihood of some changes to the schedule should we move to the Orange zone. YSE’s programming will pause for the Easter weekend from Friday, April 2 through Sunday, April 4 to allow everyone family time over the holiday weekend and our program will operate as usual over the rescheduled Spring Break taking place the week of April 12-16 (an opportunity for additional ice that week will also be explored).

Of course, this plan for programming for April is dependent on York Region maintaining, or improving, current public health protocols. If York Region’s public health protocols were to regress at any time, our programming plan would be readjusted accordingly.

Our programming in April will continue to incorporate individual skill development with guest instructors but will shift to more team-centered activities should we move to the Orange zone and the ability to play games. One challenge in that scenario is many of our fellow ETA associations have discontinued programming for the season, but we continue to work with the OMHA to explore every opportunity to have our players play the most meaningful hockey possible this season.

The cost for the remainder of the second phase of YSE’s Return to Hockey programming will be $550 for the final five weeks and will be invoiced to members this week. It will be assumed that all players who participated in programming in March will continue for the final five weeks of the program, but if your child is opting out of the remainder of the program, please notify your coach immediately.

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we work together to make our Return to Hockey a safe, productive and rewarding experience for all involved.

Yours truly,

The York Simcoe Express Board of Directors, YSE Return to Hockey Committee and Coaches
