YSE ALUMNI SELECTED 2nd OVERALL BY L.A. KINGS IN 2020 NHL DRAFT
Submitted By Kelly Jones on Tuesday, October 6, 2020

Congratulations to Quinton Byfield who was selected with the second overall pick by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Byfield was a seven-year player for York Simcoe Express from 2011 to 2018 before being selected first overall by the Sudbury Wolves overall in the 2018 OHL priority selection.

In its pre-draft rankings, NHL observers said Byfield has the makings of a prototypical franchise centre with comparisons to seven-time NHL All Star Evgeni Malkin.

Sportsnet noted of Byfield, “With a solid combination of size, speed, skill, vision and tenacity when it comes to puck battles, Byfield is an ideal piece to build a team around. And, as one of the younger players in the draft, still has room to grow and add strength to his imposing frame.”

Congratulations Quinton from everyone at YSE! We wish you continued success and look forward to cheering you on.
