YSE Return to Hockey Update
Submitted By Mercedes Ohayon on Saturday, August 1, 2020
Dear YSE members,

On behalf of the YSE Board of Directors, we hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy. These past four months have been difficult for everyone, but we recognize it has been especially hard on our children as their activities and sense of normalcy have been disrupted.

We remain optimistic about the positive steps we are seeing within the province that are allowing a number of activities to resume and look forward to being able to implement limited hockey activities over the next month within the guidelines permitted by the OMHA.

With the Province’s move to Stage 3, YSE is in the process of developing on-ice skill development sessions that will allow our players that participated on 2019-20 rosters to return to the ice, and most importantly, enjoy a step towards normalcy in their lives and their schedules.

To help us plan for these sessions, including determining participation numbers, arranging ice time, scheduling coaches, and determining cost, online registration will open on Tuesday, August 4 and will run through Monday, August 31. On-ice sessions will begin Monday, September 14.

It is important to remind our members that the re-opening of hockey activities remains a fluid situation with our direction coming from the OMHA as well as the towns in which we operate. We continue to work closely with the OMHA and YSE’s local centres to ensure our members are informed and will be safe when we are able to return. To that end, a representative from the OMHA will attend YSE’s online AGM on August 13 to provide an update to our members and answer whatever questions they can at this time.

Please continue to visit omha.ca and ysehockey.com for the latest updates as they become available.
