Minor Atom, Minor Peewee and Minor Midget prepare for Whitby Silver Stick

As three of our teams pack their hockey bags, they’re also packing a suite case.  On Thursday, our boys will make the journey to Whitby, Ontario to participate in a three day tournament.  The Whitby Silver Stick tournament features some of the top AAA clubs from across Canada and the USA.  Some of the clubs will come from as far as Edmonton, Alberta while others hail from Detroit, Michigan and Boston Massachusetts.  But enough about the competition, here's what you need to know about OUR YSE teams!


  • First in the ETA West with a record of 12-1 Our Minor Atom boys are leaders in goals for with 73 and leaders in goals against, having given up a mere 24 goals against.
  • Have competed in three tournaments thus far this season.
  • Have advanced to the quarterfinals of each and are looking to surpass that mark this weekend.
  • They open the tournament against their arch rival the Brampton 45's.  The 45’s defeated the Minor Atom boys 4-3 in OT last March to take the bronze medal at the OMHA championships.

Minor Midget boys are heading into the Silver Stick on a real streak!
9 straight wins in the ETA West,  including the first defeat of North Central and a win in Whitby.
- The team has also won its last 3 games in the London tournament at Thanksgiving, stretching the win streak to 12 games
- The team has 24 pts in 16 games and are leading the Western Division on % points over North Central and Barrie.

- Head Coach Mike De Pellegrin says that the goaltending has been one of the highlights for the team this season.
- With the injury to goaltender Jacob Brayford, goaltender James Elmhirst has stepped up to the challenge and has not disappointed
- De Pellegrin also praises his team's defensive execution, noting that there were many changes to the system in a short period of time
