Minor Midget win Rochester Early Bird Tournament
Congratulations to the YSE Minor Midget Team on winning the Rochester Early Bird Tournament this past weekend
The Minor Midget team had a great start to their season this
past weekend in Rochester.
The team played in the U-16 Division, which allowed them to
be tested by bigger & stronger competition
After a 9-1 win against Hamburg Hawks, the boys ran into a
very hot goalie with Rochester Grizzlies.
While directing around 60 shots at the net, YSE only scored one goal and
the Grizzlies were able to find a lucky bounce ending the game with a 1-1 tie. The last game of the round robin was against a
very strong St. Lawrence team, which YSE won 4-3
Our prize in the elimination round was to face Rochester
again. This time our boys found had a
little more success finding the net, winning 5-2.
That set up a semi-final rematch versus St.
Lawrence. It was an exciting game, including
a strong performance from Express goalie Jacob Brayford, and ended with a tight 5-3 victory.
That led to a final with Pittsburgh Vengeance. A great stretch pass led to a goal 12
seconds in, with a second in 90 seconds and a 3rd in the first 5
minutes. From there, the boys played a
great game to keep control of the puck and the pace of the game, ending with a
5-0 win.
It was a very good bonding experience and we hope
the start of a great Minor Midget year
