YSE Supports the York Region Children's Aid Society Holiday Heros Campaign
Submitted By YSE on Monday, November 24, 2014
Three York Simcoe Express teams are ensuring that the holiday season will be a little brighter for some needy families in York Region this December.  Over the past two weeks, the Minor Peewee, Peewee, and Bantam teams have each "adopted" a family to support.

Family referral forms were received with children's first names, ages, genders, clothing sizes and any wished for gifts.  Funds were collected and then team shopping trips to Upper Canada Mall were organized to hand select the perfect gifts to make a child's wishes come true.  Clearly, our players enjoyed the act of being generous to those in need by participating in the Holiday Heroes program, and it is hoped that it has instilled a desire to continue to give back to the community that they live in.

This initiative was carried out in collaboration with our arena partner, St. Andrew's College, who will coordinate the organization and distribution of the gifts and winter clothing to the Children's Aid Society for more than 230 families this holiday season.

Unwrapped gifts can still be dropped off at Reception at St. Andrew's College until November 28th, or visit www.yorkcas.on.ca/holiday.asp for additional drop off locations.
